Richard Kerr and AMD Motorsport are set to take on the MotoAmerica Superstock Championship in the United States after unsuccessful attempts to secure opportunities in the British racing scene.
Kerr found himself as the unexpected victor of the Superstock series following the disqualification of original winner Dan Linfoot, who had his points revoked due to irregularities with his Optimum Motorbikes Honda during the final event at Brands Hatch. The revised scoring system for the last round allowed Kerr to surpass Linfoot in the overall standings, albeit a month after the conclusion of the event.
AMD Motorsport had initially aimed to move up to the premier BSB class for the upcoming season. However, with no viable opportunities arising, they have opted to switch their focus to the MotoAmerica series in the U.S.
Reflecting on the decision, Kerr commented, “After nine years in the BSB paddock, we would have liked to continue and step up to the BSB series, but unfortunately, no opportunities presented themselves. So we explored other options, and now that everything’s confirmed, I’m very excited to be moving to the MotoAmerica series. It's a new challenge, and I'm looking forward to it.”
"The bikes have already been shipped out and will be managed by Darrell Jones, who operates a Honda dealership, and Ashton Yates in the MotoAmerica Superbike series. We'll fly in for each round, allowing me to focus on riding and learning the tracks. Adapting to the Dunlop tires will be a challenge, as I haven't used them since I started racing in the British tracks nine years ago. Nonetheless, I'm eager to take on the challenge, especially at iconic circuits. I believe we can perform well."
